Inferno Theatre presents "My Recollect Time"

"Ain't ya heard, ain't ya heard, all slaves now free, been emancipated, emancipated, aint ya heard, ain't ya heard"

The world premiere of "My Recollect Time" by Jamie Greenblatt tells the inspiring story of the historical figure Mary Fields, a former slave, and the transformations she undergoes as she struggles to live a free and authentic life after Emancipation. Her life journey takes her from Tennessee to Montana via the Mississippi as a riverman (she passed as a man) and includes her unlikely and endearingly close friendship with the charismatic Ursuline nun, Mother Amadeus. At the age of 60, Mary Fields was the first black woman to ride a stagecoach for the U.S. Postal Service.  Through the art of physical theater this Inferno Theatre ensemble cast and crew will take you on a journey of the heart showing how love, hope, strength and courage defied racial, gender, religious and social barriers in the pursuit and maintenance of freedom.

Performed by Nkechi as Mary Fields, Valentina Emeri as Mother Amadeus and Bartend and Jamie Van Camp as all male roles.
